Bill Warax - senior minister

Bill serves as a husband to his lovely wife Cheryl, father to his two daughters Emma Grace and Olivia Faith, and as senior minister of Springfield Church of Christ. He and his family are humbled to serve God in the “All-American City” of Springfield, OH and Clark County.  Growing up in his hometown of Lexington, KY Bill always knew he’d be a minister in some capacity.  In those days he was an avid basketball and softball player who planned to serve in medical missions.  He began studies with the University of Kentucky, but God had other plans.

After meeting his wife Cheryl, Bill went on to graduate from Cincinnati Christian University (then Cincinnati Bible College) with two Bachelor of Arts Degrees, one in Christian Education and the other in Christian Ministry.  He then attended seminary classes at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL and finished his Masters of Divinity Degree at Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, IN.   During nearly twenty years of full-time ministry, Bill has served churches in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana before joining the SCC team.

Bill’s role as senior minister is to be the spiritual leader of the SCC family, the primary Bible teacher, and the communicator of SCC’s mission, vision, and values and provide the necessary leadership to the staff, ministries, and operations of the church to make them a reality. Bill’s passion is to see people grow to reach their full potential in becoming the person God created them to be. His vision is to partner with God to do something great in Springfield, OH - something so big that only God can receive the credit for it.

Snapshots of Bill’s Favorites:
Favorite Bible Verses:  Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)
Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (KJV)

Favorite Sport, Sports Team and Boardgames: Bill’s favorite sport is basketball and growing up in Lexington, KY his favorite college team has to be the Kentucky Wildcats (I bleed blue).  Bill’s favorite boardgames are Sorry and Huggermugger which Cheryl and the girls occasionally let him win.
